Promotional Event & Business Printed Banners
Most people ordering a banner are working to a date. A shop opening, a match, a fete, a fundraiser, a sale that starts on the weekend. So the first thing worth saying is the practical one: order and pay, and your banner will normally be ready for collection in three to five working days. If your date is tight, tell me when you call and I will tell you honestly whether it can be done, rather than take the order and hope.
Collection is from my Newton Abbot workshop. Delivery may sometimes be possible by prior arrangement, depending on the job and location, but it is not included in the standard turnaround.
I am Leigh. I have been sign making in Newton Abbot since 1979. I am City & Guilds trained, and I design and print banners here rather than send your artwork away to a trade printer. That means if something is wrong with your file, I spot it before it goes on the roll, not after.
The banners I print are made from substantial 510gsm PVC, suitable for repeated indoor or outdoor use.
The useful life of any outdoor banner will depend on where it is displayed, how exposed the location is, how securely it is fixed and whether it is stored properly between uses. Good fixing matters just as much as the weight of the material, particularly on a fence, gate or other exposed position.
The material is well suited to full-colour printing, including logos and photographs that need to remain clear and recognisable when viewed from a distance.
The size most people ask for is 3 metres by 1 metre. It is a sensible default for a shopfront, a fence line or a stand at an event, big enough to read from a distance without being awkward to handle or fix. If you need something else, I can produce banners from small up to larger sizes, so an unusual space is not a problem.
The finish is where a bit of local knowledge saves you trouble. As standard, your banner comes with silver eyelets around the edge, spaced for cable ties or screws.
If it is going somewhere exposed, on a coastal fence or a gate that catches the wind, that is worth mentioning. A banner fixed only at the corners can flap, pull against the eyelets and become damaged.
For posts and existing poles, I can leave the eyelets off and add pole pockets instead, so it slides straight on. If wind is the real concern, I can also talk you through a mesh banner, which allows more air to pass through it.
None of that is upselling. It is about choosing the right banner and fixing method for the location.
Walls, fences, gates and railings are the usual spots. Around here they go up a lot on lamp posts and railings to advertise a village event or a concert, across shopfronts for a sale or an opening, and on stands at shows and markets.
If you intend to put a banner on a lamp post, public railing or land you do not own, check that you have permission from the owner or relevant authority before installing it.
Indoors, banners work just as well for a conference backdrop, a party or a stall. The same banner can be used both indoors and outdoors, provided it is the right size and is fixed appropriately for the location.
I do not print anything until you have approved the artwork. You get a proof by text or email, you check it, and only then does it go on the machine.
Once you approve it, that is what prints, so it is worth reading the proof properly, spelling, phone numbers and dates included.
If you do not have finished artwork, that is fine. Send me your logo, wording and contact details, and I can set the banner up for you as part of the job.
“We ordered our banners with Sign Art for a local Manaton event. They were just what we needed, delivered on time, at a good price. Thank you, Leigh.”
That is the ordinary version of this job. Someone has a date, needs something that looks right and is ready when it should be, and gets on with running their event.

A PVC banner is a marketing tool made of waterproof PVC material with graphics printed on its surface. It is flexible, durable and suitable for indoor and outdoor use.
PVC banners can be used on walls, fences or gates. They are popularly used on High Street lamp posts to advertise social events and concerts. PVC banners are ideal for promoting local businesses or shops.
PVC banners can be fixed using screws or cable ties. They come with silver eyelets around the edge for easy hanging. You can also request plain banners without eyelets or banners with pole pockets for easy installation on existing posts or poles.
The most popular banner size is 3 metres by 1000mm, but custom PVC banners can be produced in any size up to 1500mm by 10 metres for example.
